GB65RFW  ( Rangers From Weymouth ) 1944

The American Rangers contributed so much, before during and after D-Day that we wanted to do something to mark our appreciation of their efforts.

The 2nd and 5th battalions of the Rangers worked from Weymouth and along the South coast of England, sailing to the French coast to disable the gun emplacements in preparation for the D-day landing.

Our QSL card shows one of the first landing craft setting sail from Weymouth.

There is a memorial on Weymouth sea front and at Blandford Army camp in memory of all those soldiers that lost their lives during that time.

Blandford camp was also used as a hospital for the wounded returning from the battle front.

On the back of our QSL card there is a brief description of what the pictures stand for, but our words cannot say what we really think.

Please do not ever forget what these brave soldiers did for our country.

Remembering all who served our country during those troubled times.
