Xcorder is a freeware voice activated (VOX) recorder designed to work with communication receivers or 'scanners' however there are many other applications it can be used for. The program works by recording only when a signal is detected, this can save a lot of hard disk space as well as monitoring time. The program works best when recording VHF / UHF FM radio transmissions as this mode has very good squelch characteristics which enables easier record triggering within Xcorder. Recording HF comms like Single Sideband transmissions (SSB) can also be accomplished, however setting the record trigger level may not be as successful as with FM comms due to the characteristics of side band transmissions and the varying noise levels found on HF. |
